Weekly Game Summary Week 1: (0-1) Bulldogs 7 - (2-0) Clear Lake 35
I was not able to attend this game, but here is the link to the Houston Chronicle story www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/hso/5115225.htmlWeek 2: (0-2) Bulldogs 13 - (2-0) La Marque 14
Statistically the Bulldogs dominated this game and La Marque could not move the football. Both teams scored late in the game to end in a 7-7 tie. In overtime the Bulldogs were down 14-13 and decided to go for two to win it all, but came about 10 inches short of the goal line. Defensively Sutherland and Ogando had big games for the Dogs and offensively Riley and Perkins shined. BOXSCOREWeek 3: (1-2) Bulldogs 38 - (0-3) Baytown Sterling 21
The Bulldogs trailed 14-0 late in the 2nd quarter and things looked bleak to the La Porte fans, but the Dogs got a late turnover that put 7 points on the board right before half time. The 2nd half was all La Porte as the Dogs exploded for 31 points. Once again Colby Riley and Kendrick Perkins led the way for the dogs. Defensively Devin Hemby, Devon Sutherland and Ian Ogando turned in outstanding performances. BOXSCOREWeek 4: (1-3) Bulldogs 21 - (3-1) South Houston 28
The revamped SoHo Trojans surprised the Bulldogs on the strength of their QB Milton Howell who ran and passed all over the bulldog defense tonight. Offensively the Dogs had trouble getting sustained drives consistently and struggled to move the ball all night until late in the 4th quarter. It looked like we would go to overtime but a tipped pass on 3rd down and 10 with 2 minutes left in the game gave the Trojans the ball back in Bulldog territory and Howell ran it in for the winning Trojan touchdown. The Bulldogs will need to make a lot of improvements as they prepare for the unbeaten and state ranked North Shore Mustangs next week.Week 5: (1-4) Bulldogs 0 - (5-0) North Shore 35
The rain didn't help slow down the Mustangs as they rolled over the Dogs tonight 35-0. Again, the offense struggled all night to sustain drives and could not manage to put any points on the board. 5 fumbles did not help matters any either. Defensively the Dogs did a fair job of slowing the Mustangs down, but the turnovers just gave the Mustangs too many opportunities to score. The Bulldogs were without the services of RB Kendrick Perkins tonight who is out indefinitely with an ankle injury. Doug Beaudion came in to fill Perkins shoes and did a good job. Hopefully the Dogs will get district win #1 at Pasadena next week.Week 6: (2-4) Bulldogs 52 - Pasadena (2-4) 14
The score clearly indicates how this game went as the Bulldogs jumped out to a 38-2 halftime lead and never looked back. Big runs from Colby Riley and over 100 yards from Duke Hawkins helped lift the Bulldogs over the Eagles for their first district win of the year.Week 7: (2-5) Bulldogs - (6-0) Pasadena Memorial
Well, the Memorial Mavericks have managed to come a long way in their short history and they are "for real" this year. The Bulldogs were never really in this game and were dominated by the Mavericks. Defensively, Alex Boja had a good night for the Dogs and so did Harrison Smith. Offensively the bright spot was Andrew English who seemed to have super magnets on his hands because he caught everything that was thrown to him (even the uncatchable ones). BOXSCOREWeek 8: (2-6) Bulldogs 17 - (6-2) Deer Park 20
Well, if you didn't go to this game you missed the best game of the season as the Deer kicked a field goal with no time time remaining on the clock to beat the Bulldogs 20-17 in an exciting, hard fought game. The Bulldogs scored first on a Field Goal by Diego Navar and then recovered the on-side kick to drive into Deer territory again. On the Deer' first play from scrimmage, Harrison Smith intercepted the pass and the Bulldogs were deep in Deer territory. Although the Bulldogs dominated the 1st quarter, they had trouble getting the ball into the end zone and at half time it was 14-3 Deer Park. The Dogs mounted a second half comeback with 2 touchdowns from Colby Riley and with only 2 minutes remaining in the game the score was tied at 17, but the Deer mounted a drive that stopped at the Bulldog 3 yard line and kicked the game winning field goal as time expired. BOXSCORE GAME PHOTOS and VIDEOWeek 9: (3-6) Bulldogs 50 - (2-7) Sam Rayburn 0
Rather than mention all the names here, lets just say this was a great team effort by the Bulldogs tonight as they crushed the Sam Rayburn Texans 50-0. It was 42-0 at halftime and could have been worse. In the 2nd half the Bulldogs had a couple of touchdowns called back that could have made the score even worse than it was. At half time, Stephanie Bellew and Colby Riley were crowned Homecoming Queen and King.Week 10: (4-6) Bulldogs 34 - (2-8) Dobie 7
